Flummox Friday: He Lives.
With all this talk of VivaJava, I wanted to remind you that Flummox is coming to Kickstarter soon as well.
You remember Flummox, right? My little card game with the mysterious and elusive creature that is set to be published by Clever Mojo Games?
I know, with all the excitement leading up to Unpub2 I kind of slowed down with Flummox talk, my bad entirely. I took a break to support other people’s games and I’m still doing that. Why? Well, I love good games and it doesn’t matter to me if I had anything to do with them or not (For the Win!)
…But I have a metric tonnage to do with Flummox. I love Flummox too. …And coming up real soon I’m going to start pushing it pretty hard. VivaJava: The Coffee Game is going to get a little more love from Cartrunk.net over the next few weeks, because that’s the kind of guy I am. I support my friends and I support the projects I genuinely care about…. But you will also start seeing more about Flummox. That’s the kind of guy I am too. This site has seen increased traffic due to VivaJava and I’d love to steal some of those eyes for my own nefarious purposes. Sorry DHMG gang, I’m an opportunist like the next guy. At least I’m honest and open about it.
So, what’s happening with Flummox? The rules are being polished. The beta tests are underway. The video is being made. …Not just one video (not just the kickstarter video,) but I’m working on making several videos. I’ve teased those before but I’ve gotten my hands on some better technology and feel comfortable now that I can make you some proper “how to play videos.” My publisher will see them first, but I think you could easily see some video on Flummox next week.
We had a pretty good showing at Unpub2. Flummox played about five times with different groups of smiling happy people. There were mostly positive comments, but there was also the “it’s not my type of game” comment as well. That was going around and I’m okay with that. I got to say that about a few other games, so it’s all good. I accept that as a comment and take no offense. We were given a little feedback on a graphical issue or two, which is what play-testing is for. There weren’t any real curve-balls from players. The game played smooth and fun. I was very happy and I think you will be too.
…Soon.
We’re going to keep making that soon, sooner. That’s my pledge. You will get a Flummox Friday every week now. Solid. No lie. No joke. Gonna happen. My pledge. Are you okay with that? We’re gonna be sprucing up all kinds of things and just getting our house in order.
…So, Flummox is coming and I want you to remember that. …But until we get here, go pledge VivaJava. The little guy and the coffee game come from two different worlds, but we’re kindred spirits connected on this journey! I think the creature drinks coffee…
