It’s finally time to announce the full details for this year’s Unpublished Games Festival. That’s right Unpub 2 is coming your way on Saturday January 14th 2012 in Dover, Delaware.

What is an Unpublished Games Festival? It’s an event that brings together designers who have games that need playing with players who want to play new games! It’s as simple as that. No stakes. No worries. Just games and players.

What we provide is a safe, open atmosphere where game designers can get feedback from players who want to have a good time playing games. This year’s event is moving to a larger venue due to increased interest in the event. We’ll be at FOP Lodge #3 (1584 Kitts Hummock RD; Dover,DE 19901.)

Unpub 2 opens it’s doors at 10:00am and the last meeple will be  back in the box by 10:00pm.  The event is free, but we are asking a $5.00 suggest donation. Food will be made available for purchase during the day, so you won’t need to leave you games. It’s a full day of gaming at a fairly low cost to all participants.

What games are eligible for entry into Unpub2?

  • Any game (board, card, tile, role playing, even miniature) that has not yet found a publisher or that has been self published through personal means or sites like The Game Crafter.
  • Any game that has found a publisher, but has not yet hit the store shelves.
Everyone is asked to register, players and designers! We will still accept players and games at the door, but registering helps us gauge your needs.
Once designers have registered we’ll be in contact to gather the following information:
  • Designer(s) Name(s).
  • Game Name.
  • Amount of time needed to instruct and run 1 demo game (to the nearest half hour.)
  • Brief Description of game (including type of game)
  • Number of players
  • Space required to play the game. (optimal size of table.)
We are restricting the game submissions to two games per designer.
We are also accepting submissions from designers who cannot attend. If you wish to have one (1) game “blind tested” during the event you may send a non-print and play copy to us. We’ll set it up for demos. We make no promises, games with the designer present tend to see more action. Contact John@cartrunk.net to make that happen.
We’re looking forward to a great event. 12 games were presented last year and four of them are currently on their way to publication! This is a great way to get some exposure and some valuable play testing with diverse groups!
